Book a free solar assessment in Ottawa

Send the form or call KAJK Constructors at (613) 869-8254, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to book a free solar assessment in Ottawa. The form asks for your name and a phone number or email. Add the property's address and your annual energy consumption to the message: annual kWh is the number that sizes a solar system, so this page shows where to find it.

What happens after you send the form

KAJK handles what you send under its privacy policy.

  1. Your request

Put the address and your annual kWh in the message. The address shows KAJK the roof or land, and the kWh how much power the system has to make.

  2. The assessment

KAJK's residential process models the site, simulates future production and calculates cable and equipment power losses before anything is drawn.

  3. Your proposal

A concept design with costs, equipment selection and plans, which KAJK walks through with you so you can compare options and decide.

  4. If you go ahead

The project moves on to procurement, design and construction, with KAJK acquiring the permits.

Where to find your annual energy consumption

Use a full 12 months, since use swings with the seasons. The Ontario Energy Board raises the residential tiered-price threshold to 1,000 kWh a month in winter, from 600 in summer, so households can use more at the lower price during the heating season.

Log in to MyAccount to view and download up to 24 months of hourly use, as Excel, PDF or Green Button files.
Hydro One customers
When Hydro Ottawa was formed, Hydro One kept its customers in the former townships of Osgoode, West Carleton, Cumberland and Rideau, so many rural Ottawa addresses get a Hydro One bill. In its myAccount, choose “My Energy Usage” to see use by hour, day or month.
Paper or PDF bills
Each bill shows the kWh used in that billing period. Add the last 12, or as many as you have, and note the months.
Not sure?
Give your best estimate and say it is one, or leave it out. If an electric car, heat pump or addition is coming, mention it, because it changes next year's number.

Questions we get asked

Is the solar assessment free?

Yes. It looks at your electricity use and your roof or land, and leads to a written proposal with a concept design, costs, equipment selection and plans that KAJK walks you through. Whether you go ahead after that is your decision.

Do I need my hydro bills to book?

No. Your name, a phone number or email, and the property's address are enough to book. A year of kWh makes the first conversation more useful, because it is the number that sizes the system: Natural Resources Canada rates panels in Ottawa at about 1,200 kWh per kW a year, so a home using 8,400 kWh needs roughly 7 kW.

Can a business or farm book the same assessment?

Yes. Describe the project in the message. For a commercial, industrial or institutional site, book before you sign anything: Save on Energy's Retrofit Program, which pays incentives for behind-the-meter solar, requires its application before a binding commitment is made (read 2026-10-01). The incentives page lists the current programs.

Are you open on weekends?

No. The office is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed Saturday and Sunday. The form can be sent any time, and a call during office hours reaches KAJK at (613) 869-8254.
